Suhbah Coffee is the hospitality heart of the Roots Community Space, a welcoming and spiritually nourishing environment in Carrollton, TX. Together, Suhbah and Roots create a dynamic third space where people gather for coffee, connection, and community programming rooted in reflection, faith, and service.

The Store & Space Manager is a full-time role that combines Suhbah Coffee’s daily operational oversight with the broader responsibility of managing the Roots Community Space’s functionality, aesthetics, and hospitality. This role also supports a culture of continuous improvement by listening to and implementing feedback from both community members and internal teams.

Suhbah Coffee – Store Manager Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of Suhbah Coffee to ensure high standards of service, hospitality, and cleanliness.

  • Supervise, train, and lead the barista team, supporting a healthy and team-oriented work culture.

  • Create and manage staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage across all shifts.

  • Monitor and manage inventory, conduct regular stock counts, and reorder supplies to ensure operational continuity.

  • Oversee procurement of ingredients, packaging, and café equipment in coordination with approved vendors.

  • Ensure consistent product quality and adherence to health, safety, and cleanliness standards.

  • Manage point-of-sale systems, handle daily sales reconciliation, and submit regular financial reports.

  • Collaborate with the finance and HR teams to process payroll accurately and on time.

  • Uphold Suhbah’s values of intentionality, excellence, and hospitality in all aspects of team and customer experience.

Space-Focused Responsibilities

Aesthetic & Experience

  • Curate and maintain an inviting, clean, and organized space that reflects Roots’ values.

  • Manage furniture layout, lighting, and decor to support comfort, community use, and event readiness.

  • Oversee indoor greenery and general ambiance, ensuring a vibrant and calming atmosphere.

  • Collaborate with Roots leadership to update the visual identity of the space seasonally or for key events.

General Upkeep & Maintenance

  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of the space to assess conditions and identify improvements.

  • Ensure the maintenance and functionality of furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

  • Coordinate with cleaning vendors and staff to maintain cleanliness and organization standards.

  • Monitor and restock supplies essential to space upkeep.

Facilities Coordination & Vendor Liaison

  • Coordinate with the facilities team on all structural, technical, or maintenance-related issues (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical).

  • Liaise with external vendors for service calls, maintenance appointments, and installations.

  • Ensure that all vendor work is up to standard and documented with proper logs for planning and reference.

Community Experience & Feedback Integration

  • Gather and assess data from community member surveys and informal feedback mechanisms.

  • Work collaboratively with Roots and Qalam Masjid leadership to identify key areas for growth in hospitality, space experience, and visitor flow.

  • Implement solutions based on community and staff input to elevate the user experience across shared spaces.

  • Track feedback trends and report regularly on action items and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in coffee shop, hospitality, or facilities management preferred.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Experience with inventory tracking, procurement, and scheduling.

  • Familiarity with payroll processes and coordination with HR/Finance teams.

  • Attention to detail with a creative and practical eye for space and ambiance.

  • Experience managing teams, vendors, and overlapping priorities in fast-paced environments.

  • Demonstrated ability to gather, interpret, and act on community feedback and data.

Compensation & Schedule

  • Full-time salaried position (commensurate with experience).

  • Some evening and weekend hours required, based on programming schedules.
